Is it summer already?

That’s the question for this week… has summer arrived early? Did we completely skip over spring? Our weather lately has been weird to say the least. We’ve had unbelievable amounts of rain, thunderstorms, hail storms, tornadoes…. and now wonderful sunshine filled days.

And to confirm the arrival of summer… my swimming pool has reappeared! WooHoo! Mom brought it out for me last night. She says that I can use it for however long the warm weather says around. I really enjoy my swimming pool!

Here’s a look at our forecast for the next few days:

Spring Fever Time!

New Friend

I have made a new friend. I spotted him across the street and decided that he just HAD to be my friend. I would lay in the kitchen looking out the door. I would watch for him and when I spotted him, I would simply cry! I just had to meet him!

Mom finally had a chance to talk to the neighbor this past Sunday and she made my dream come true! My buddy got to come over and play! It was so wonderful! I just adore this pup and I believe that we are going to be the best of buddies. Here’s a photo of all of us playing –

Strange Weather

We’ve had some strange weather lately. This past weekend it was rainy and then it turned cold and snow fell in our area. Fast forward to today. We set a record high of 76 degrees! It is super windy, and that will continue into tomorrow. The weather forecast is calling for sever storms overnight, with high winds, possible thunder and they can’t rule out a possible tornado! YIKES! Mom is already planning on giving me some Rescue Remedy before bed. It does seem to help keep me a little calmer during storms and stressful times. It helped me out on Monday when I went to the vet’s for my annual check-up. I was still scared but mom doesn’t think it was as bad as it has been.

I think it takes all breeds to make the world go round. Purebreds are great and so are us mutts. And rescue & shelter dogs rule!!

Don’t need no stinkin’ groundhog!

I don’t need no stinkin’ groundhog to tell me that spring has sprung! According to the man in the talking box, we are supposed to have a week almost filled with warm sunny days! WooHoo! Days perfect for taking long naps in the sun. After the soggy winter we’ve been having, it will be nice to visit with Mr Sunshine for the next few days. And it looks like some flowers are trying to poke their heads up through the ground… ahhh… color wonderful color!

Napping in the sun

Flippers, Fins & Gills

Flippers, fins & gills… items needed to survive in our current weather pattern. Seems like all we have is rain! We had about an inch of rain on Saturday and I think we probably had that much again this morning! My paws are pruning up from all the moisture! I think I need to be a fish in my next life, or maybe a duck so I can enjoy all this wet weather :-/

What I need to be in my next life if all this rain keeps falling!

Rain Rain Go Away

I’m thinking about an old nursery rhyme… it goes something like this:

Rain rain go away,
Come again another day

I’m so tired of gray, gloomy, soggy days! I’m ready for nice, warm, sunny spring days. Do you have any clue where I can find some? I’m willing to forgo some treats in order to get a few of those days! All this rain we’ve had these past few months is making me feel blue.

Happy New Year!

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!

I started mine out with a clean start. Meaning the mom said we smelled and it was time for a bath! EEEKK!! Well, truthfully I like baths and didn’t mind. Pixie hates baths and wasn’t so happy about it. And Ugg, well it was the first time mom gave him a bath. He was very curious and stood with his front paws on the edge of the tub, watching while I was scrubbed & rinsed. When it was his turn, he didn’t do too bad. Mom’s hoping he will end up like me, a water-loving dog.

And I want to welcome back Ol’ Man Winter. Just when I was thinking he didn’t like us anymore, he appeared! It’s been very blustery today and late this afternoon, the snow arrived! WooHoo! Okay, it  isn’t major snow, more like flurries and light snow showers. We probably will only get about 1/4″ of snow total and that’s if we are lucky. Nothing like what we had last winter. Tomorrow is supposed to be very cold with some nasty wind chills. Sounds like another perfect day to lounge around the house and sleep.

This is what it looked like at this time last year on mom's drive home from work. Very doubtful that I'll be seeing this much snow anytime soon.

Too Much of Anything is No Good

Mom kept telling me “Patton, too much of anything is no good.” Did I listen to her? Nope, I didn’t. I guess I should have because she might have been onto something.

Remember me raving about how I love this time of year? All the wonderful goodies that Santa brings me? Well, I overindulged in some of those goodies. They were wonderful going down and all was good for a while… then 3:30am rolled around.

I had a rumbly in my tumbly… I thought if I got up and walked around a little, maybe my stomach would feel better. It didn’t work. Mom thought I was being my normal guard dog self. Figured that I wanted to go outside to simply patrol the yard perimeter. So she told me to hop back up on the bed and go to sleep.

I was a good boy, did what she asked me to. She rubbed my ears to help me settle down. (I ADORE ear rubs!) Then I started yawning… and then I started licking my lips. That got mom’s attention super fast. She leaped out of bed at the same time she was asking me if I needed to go outside. Well duh! That was a stupid question. Yes I needed to go outside, I was going to be sick!

We raced down the hall to the deck door. While mom was unlocking it… well, it was too late. I got sick 😦  I still wanted to go out, so mom let me out in the yard while she cleaned things up. When I came inside, mom snuggled with me in my favorite chair for a little while before we went back to bed.

Needless to say, I wasn’t so treat obsessed yesterday. Sleeping seemed to make more sense, you know take things easy. Tonight, I’m working on getting back on a “normal” treat schedule. I’m back to being a cookie monster!

Wonderful Time of Year

This is a wonderful time of the year! Last year was really cold and snowy, but this year is much warmer with rain instead of snow. I’m more fond of the snow than I am of the rain, but I’ll make do with either. The snow and cold make it seem more like Christmas.

The reason I enjoy this time of year is because of all the goodies! Santa Paws comes to visit us  several time. The first two times, Santa Paws ships gifts to us. We get to open them on certain days and always have to take special photos of them. I’m not sure what mom does with them, but she says that Santa and his friends wants to see them. Anyway, those gifts start the season off right. They always seem to contain wonderful, tasty treats! And toys! WooHoo!! We love treats and toys.

First Secret Santa Gift of the Year

Then on Christmas morning, Santa leaves more goodies for us! I’m not sure how he gets into my house without me hearing him… but he does!! Boy Oh Boy! I love Christmas morning!! Even more goodies and toys!
