Cool Spell
October 2nd 2008 6:57 pm

We are experiencing cooler than average temperatures right now. And I’m taking advantage of it! Cool weather means that my brother Ty feels better and has a lot more energy. We’re spending our time romping and wrestling. When mom was fixing out kibble tonight, Ty and I were busy wrestling on the kitchen floor. Mom said it sounded like a troop of “River Dancers” were practicing on her tile floor. Don’t know who those people are, but I sure was having fun!!

Play Time!!
October 7th 2008 12:44 pm

WooHoo!!! It’s play time! Hope the neighbor’s didn’t want to sleep late this morning, ‘cause Annie I sure made some noise this morning. (And before 8am) We had tons of fun barking, she was up on the patio making sure I couldn’t get up there. ArroooRooo Rooo! That’s what she said!! And then we ran around the yard doing the mad puppy dashes, barking & growling all the way. Sooo much fun!!

Patton — the hunter….
October 10th 2008 12:25 pm

It was a nice cool night, just a light breeze blowing. I was crouched between the fireplace and large oak tree. Slowly I crept forward and peered around the edge of the tree. There they were…. my prey for the evening. They were totally oblivious to the fact that their every move was being watched. I was in the perfect position for pouncing. I just had to be patient and they would move into striking range. The prey slowly moved from the lower wooded corner of the yard. Didn’t they understand that I’m a puppy and can only contain my excitement so long??? Ahhh, here they come, they don’t have a clue what’s in store for them. I spring into action and pounce them. Annie takes off running for the deck, so I don’t have the chance to really practice my moves on her, but Ty on the other hand. He got the full Patton treatment. Pouncing, jumping, ear biting & tugging. Poor fella was whimpering pitifully. I kinda felt a little sorry for him and let go, but only ‘cause I heard mom calling for us to come inside. I can’t wait to try this again!!

I saw my life flash before my eyes –
October 11th 2008 3:48 pm

I saw my life flash before my eyes last night. Mom was on the phone talking to my grandmamma when she heard what sounded like a terrible dog fight. It was me and my brother Ty. Mom didn’t know what was going on. We had been playing, doing our normal wrestling, something we do everyday with no problems. What could have happened? I’ll tell you what happened.

Somehow Ty had got his two lower canine teeth hooked under my collar (sort of like a bit on a horse’s bridle). He was pulling one way trying to get loose. I was pulling and twisting the other trying to get loose. All we were accomplishing was to choke me. My collar had gotten twisted tight against my neck when I was trying to get loose. It was getting really hard to breathe! Thank dogness mom was there!! She threw the phone down and tried to get us to stand still without any success. Then she grabbed me an somehow managed to get my collar unbuckled. She was so happy that it had one of those clips that it just took two fingers to unhook rather than having a belt buckle style. Mom and I were both shaking after she got the collar off of me! I was sooo scared!!

Once mom calmed down a little, she started worrying. What would have happened to me if something like that happened again while she was at work?? She would be devastated if she came home and I had been killed by accident. That got her thinking about “breakaway” collars. She knew they made them for cats, but what about for dogs?

So when she went to the feed store today, she asked the ladies that ran it. And yes they do make collars that “breakaway” for dogs too! And they just happened to have one in stock that would fit me. It’s made by Premier and is called a KeepSafe collar. Of course mom bought it for me, if though it isn’t my color (I prefer black and this collar is blue). She just finished changing my tags to the new collar.

Mom has had dogs her whole life and she has never has something like this happen. And had never thought something like this could happen. She wants me to ask other multi-dog owners to please keep this incident in mind when letting dogs play together.

Oooopsie!
October 14th 2008 9:54 am

I accidentally ouchied my mom last night. I didn’t mean to hurt her, but I did. See… we were in the floor playing. She would throw a squeaky ball down the hall and I would run to get it. Then we’d play tug with the ball. Then we started to wrestle, she was messing with my feets and I was play biting on her arms. Then it happened. I jerked my head up really fast and popped mom a good one on her mouth. Instant blood…. I had busted mom’s lip, not only on the outside but on the inside too. Needless to say, our playtime came to a quick halt while mom put some ice on her lip. It’s still swollen this morning. She says too bad it was the upper lip, if it was the lower lip maybe she’d look sexy instead of goofy.

Decorations
October 21st 2008 5:24 pm

I decorated mom’s arms when we last wrestled. I left bruise marks. Ooops! I just treat mom like she’s one of the pups, I can’t help it she’s a little more tender than a pup. She just shrugs and says “oh well”, it doesn’t stop her from playing with me. I like playing with mom, but maybe I’ll take it a little easier on her next time!

I’m gonna get me one of those!
October 23rd 2008 11:12 am

This morning mom heard a terrible yelping noise outside while she was getting ready for work. She ran to the window to see what was going on (she was afraid it was another “collar” incident). Turns out it was just Annie teaching me about Public Enemy #1. And I’m gonna catch me one of those things. I have a stuffed squeaky one, but somehow a real one seems so much better. Anyway, Annie was busy teaching me the proper treeing form (she’s part beagle ya know) and teaching me how to sound the alarm. Annie has that higher pitched yelp that mom heard. And the more excited she gets, the higher the pitch gets. Personally I got so frustrated at those enemies that I decided to chew the tree down to get them. Mom laughed at me. Hmmmph… what does she know, every little bit of bark that I remove puts me one step closer to capturing the enemy. Mom says I need to be taking lessons from my big sis Abby since she’s the one who has captured several of the enemies. I’m not so sure about this advice. Abby and Ty were just standing next to the fence watching Annie & I. Mom says this is cause Abby is getting older and can’t move as fast as she used to, but Abby could still give me good tips on capturing said enemy. I’ll take this into consideration. Needless to say, the enemy won round one, but I will not accept defeat. The battle will continue!

Oops I did it again. 🙂
October 23rd 2008 6:22 pm

Ooops I did it again. Mom pulled in the drive tonight and I popped my head over the deck railing just like always. She noticed it immediately. I didn’t have my collar on. See she bought me this snazzy new “break-away” collar after my near death experience. She figured “no big deal, it came of while playing like it was supposed to”. She figured she would just have to walk around the yard, find it and put it back on me. Well, she saw part of the collar as soon as she walked outside. Note that I said “part”. I guess the collar broke away like it was supposed to. And I guess I thought it looked like a nice chew toy…. needless to say I don’t currently have a special collar to wear. I’m back to my regular ol’ collar. Mom is hoping nothing bad happens to me in the next few days. Says she’s off to search the pet supply sites for the best price on a new break-away collar. *Sigh* The expenses of dog ownership never end…..

Thank you, Thank you VERY Much!!
October 24th 2008 10:39 am

I want to take a moment to thank Dogster and my fans for allowing me to be a Daily Diary pick!! Mom and I have lots of fun telling my stories to you. And believe me… I have lots of stories to tell! Oh and in case you are wondering, mom has a new collar on order for me once again….

Errand Boy
October 26th 2008 5:42 pm

I was mom’s right paw errand boy today. First we went to fill up the vehicle with “go juice”. Seems like it had a glowing orange gas pump on the dash, guess that isn’t a good thing. Then we stopped at the lake for a walk. I got to take a couple quick dips in the lake. Out as far as my leash would go. That got me in up to mid-chest. Mom just shook her head at me. Said that the lake was freezing cold (water in this lake comes from the bottom of a dam) in the summer, it must be even colder now! Then it was off to the grocery store. I had to wait in the car until mom got back. It was like a whole whopping 15 minute wait. At least it gave me a chance to do a little people watching. Got back home and got myself a tasty little treat. Not a bad day if I do say so myself. I believe I’ll volunteer to be an errand boy again.

A little sleepy
October 28th 2008 10:22 am

About 30 minutes after having my kibble last night, I started feeling a little sleepy. This was suspicious…. I’m usually ready to play. But for some reason a full tummy equaled sleepy this time. Mom just snickered at me. What’s up with that??? I’ve been itchy since the weather changed and she said she fixed my problem. Problem?! I didn’t think I had a problem. What’s wrong with a dog doing some scratching? Isn’t that what dogs do? Well, I guess it got on her nerves, so she drugged me!!! Isn’t this doggie abuse or something? Where’s my lawyer? Where’s the activists?? It has to be against the law to drug a dog “for his own good”. Pawtooie!! I didn’t like it… even though I slept really well.

Another new collar
September 2nd 2008 3:41 pm

I got another new collar today. Mom was massaging my neck a few days ago and noticed that my collar was making a raw spot on the underside of my neck. The collar was plenty loose enough, so she wasn’t sure what was going on. She loosened the collar up a lot and thought about what was causing my ooowwie. She never was fond of that collar, but it was the only one that Tractor Supply had that would fit me on the day I chewed up my original collar. This collar was a really stiff material, more like a heavy canvas instead of a softer nylon and it had a big metal buckle. She’s figuring that it was a combination of these two things that was causing my ouchie. The collar I got today is a really soft nylon and has a smaller plastic buckle. Mom likes this collar much better! (She’ll keep the yuckie one as a back-up) I’m hoping that the new collar will make my neck feel better.

I also got my D.A.P. collar today. This one is an all natural product that should help me with some of my anxiety problems. Keep your paws crossed! I’ll let you know how it goes.

Baby Pictures
September 10th 2008 8:57 am

Mom found a few more of my cute baby pictures and added them to my page. I’m sure they are towards the of my photo album. You should check them out, I was such a cutie!

Oh! And I’m not such a little baby anymore. BOL! I’m up to 61.5 pounds now!! And I’m not even full-grown yet… good thing I’ve figured out how to climb into the 4Runner, mom won’t be able to lift me before too long.

My "uber-cute" baby photo!

Woo Hoo!!
September 18th 2008 11:02 am

I made it as a diary pick of the day again!!! Thank you Dogster!! Second time in little over a month!!! *Wiggly Dance, Wiggly Dance!!* Boy, is my sister Annie gonna be upset! She’s been writing her doggy diary longer than me and has never had this honor. Nope, not even once. Guess we know who’s gonna get something special. Some wonderful treat… ME!!! ‘Cause I’m special!!!

It’s fall!!!
September 23rd 2008 11:23 am

Fall has finally arrived! Not that mom is thrilled…. she thinks it is already cold. It was only 58° this morning. Nice and brisk. Perfect for mad puppy dashes around the yard. My sis Annie even joined in a bit and she isn’t fond of cold weather either.

Me & Annie

My brother
September 26th 2008 10:01 am

I love my big brother. He’s sort of on the goofy side, but I love him anyway. Now that the weather is starting to turn cooler, he’s decided to play again. Hooray!! I hide behind the outdoor fireplace, and slowly stalk him. He’s sooo clueless! As soon as he gets close enough, I spring into action and pounce him!! So much fun! And those floppy ears of his are perfect for grabbing onto and pulling!!

Me & Ty wrestling (Annie is playing referee)

yes… I did it again!!
September 27th 2008 1:33 pm

Once again I am a Dogster Daily Diary Pick!!! Thanks so much to Dogster & all my pup pals! This is the third time for me to be a diary pick. Sooo Sweets! Can’t wait to let my sister Annie know that one again, I beat her out on the diary lottery!

I wonder if I can convince mom to give me something extra special for dinner tonight? I think I deserve it, after all I must be special! This is my second diary pick this month and the third time in two months.

Hmmm… what else has been going on in my world??? Mom says that it is fall now, so it’s time to drain my swimming pool. That doesn’t sound like such a good deal for me. I don’t care how cold the water is, I’ll still jump right in. She says it’s because the leaves are starting to fall from the oak trees and it makes it too hard to keep clean. Once again, I don’t care how dirty the water is, I’ll still jump right in.

Peas Porridge
September 29th 2008 3:33 pm

I took a nice nap on the couch yesterday with mom. She sang me my favorite little song and I fell right to sleep. Here’s my little song:

Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold,
Pease porridge in the pot, nine days old;
Some like it hot, some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot, nine days old.

If she sings it real soft, I get sleepy. If she sings in it a wicked witch voice, I get hyper & wiggly and want to play. Don’t know what the song is about, but it sort of sounds like my name and sounds like those little green things that mom picks out of her chicken pot pies and let me eat. I think I like peas!

August 2008

My world
August 3rd 2008 7:44 pm

Hmmm….been a little while since my last entry. Seems like my secretary has been slacking. Lazy human!

First, let me update y’all on Sasha. Mom saw my Auntie today and got the latest scoop. Sasha has been busy running, wrestling, de-stuffing toys, tasting the water in the bird bath, digging holes in the yard. Basically having a treat time.

Second, mom might be getting a new foster pup. Still not sure about this one yet, waiting to hear from a friend what the status on the pup is.

Third, I made a mess in the living room last night. Mom went to see a movie last night and left me loose in the house (I’ve been doing much better with my separation anxiety issue). Well to say the least I got bored with all my toys. I found an empty cardboard container that originally held a 12 pack of soda. Shredded that package into a million little pieces. Mom came in and found piece of it on the chair, love seat, sofa, floor and on all the dog beds. She didn’t get mad though. Said at least it was trash and not the sofa or door frames.

A little blue
August 12th 2008 9:49 pm

I’ve been acting a little blue the past couple days. Mom thinks it is because of the foster pup interrupting my normal routines and she might be right. Last night she sat in the floor and loved on just me. That was super nice. Tonight I started sitting on her feet again. The foster pup was busy barking up a storm at the cat. So mom scooped him up and put him to bed in his crate. Finally, peace and quiet! I enjoy playing with him, but sometimes I just want to play with my mom & sis Annie. So after the yapper went to bed, mom tossed toys for me and Annie played with me. I think that’s just the medicine I was needing.

Nacho - the foster puppy

Hmm…
August 15th 2008 1:52 pm

Hmmm… I just about gave mom a heart attack last night. See, she was typing on the computer & trying to watch the Olympics at the same time. Her desk is sort of behind the love seat and sometimes I like to look over the back of the love seat and watch her. (That’s my pose in the picture, I have my chin resting on the back of the love seat.) Well, I figured out that if I stood up and climbed onto the back of the love seat I could get even closer to her. That freaked her out. Said all she needed was a 60 pound dog falling off the love seat and getting hurt or hurting one of the other pups. I didn’t see anything wrong with what I was doing, seemed pretty fun to me. Hey! I know I was practicing my balance beam routine! Think she’ll buy that? Nah… bet she won’t.

Dogster Daily Diary Pick
August 17th 2008 1:29 pm

Wow! Oh major Wow!! Mom & I checked her email this morning & here’s what we found:

“Dogster wanted you to know that Patton is one of today’s featured diaries and it will be displayed all day on our Diary Central page at http://www.dogster.com/diary/dcentral.php under ‘Today’s Picks’.

I know I know, we’re barking like mad over here too!

Thanks so much for running with the Dogster pack and keeping a diary.

Much Woof,

I just couldn’t wait to share this will all my pals!!

The Sasha Update
August 18th 2008 9:10 am

Here’s an update on Miss Sasha for any interested pups! She’s been in her new home almost a month now & her new mom is very pleased with her. She is getting along great with her new sister, they are the best of friends now. Sasha caught a mouse in her new mom’s garage and had lots of fun tossing it up in the air and playing with it. She loves playing fetch with her new toys. Played tug-o-war with her crate bed and sent stuffies flying all over the yard. Beheaded and de-winged duckie, more stuffies in the yard from that. She’s been a very active and busy girl since she’s settled into her new home.

Big Trouble
August 25th 2008 9:35 am

I got into some big trouble Saturday night. See, mom had been outside visiting with the neighbors and us pups were inside the house enjoying the nice cool AC. Well…. something happened and I chewed up one of mom’s end tables and a digital thermometer. Needless to say mom wasn’t happy when she discovered what I had done. I felt really bad about it, I hate doing bad things. Mom was upset for a little while, then she laid down in the floor with me and gave me a big hug. She’s figuring that the foster pup (with his constant barking) had finally stressed me out beyond my tolerance level. Now she’s trying to make sure that the foster pup stays as quiet as possible and doesn’t spend too much time around me. That is helping some. And she says that the foster pup is going back to his furever home this weekend and I can have mom back all for myself!

What Now?
August 29th 2008 9:43 am

Got word last night that the earliest Nacho’s owner can take him back is this Sunday. Was really hoping more like tonight or Saturday at the latest. I’ve been doing much better since his time with us is being limited. I know he missed playing with us, but he will be an only dog at his new home. And this helps him adjust to not having doggy playmates, plus it helps reduce my stress.

Earlier this week, I went for a nice long walk with Annie. Both of us were tired pups by the time we got home. We met a few strange people & dogs along the way. At first they really scared me, but the longer we walked the better I got. Mom has ordered a D.A.P. collar for me and is hoping it will help me even more. It was highly recommended and we figure it is worth a shot, especially since it isn’t anything electronic that could hurt me.

July 2008

Finally
July 1st 2008 11:55 am

Mom finally let me have my playmate back this weekend. Sasha & I simply did not understand why we weren’t being allowed to play together. That was pure torture mom! I could see my buddy, but not play?? Cruel and unusual punishment, that’s what I call it. But… mom finally came to her senses and let us play again. (could it have been because Sasha’s whining was getting on her nerves??) Anyway, mom says to keep our paws crossed, she thinks her sister might be willing to give Sasha a furever home. That would be sweet! I could still visit & play!! Mom is planning on taking Sasha over to her sister’s house this weekend for a long visit, probably a few days. As long as her sister’s dog gets along with Sasha, it looks like it could be a done deal.

Patton & Sasha

Sasha’s visit
July 5th 2008 12:25 pm

Sasha had a play date with our fur cousin Misty yesterday. Things look pretty good for a permanent placement. And our human aunt really liked Sasha. She turned on the cute factor! We are planning an overnight visit in  of. If that goes well, then Sasha will have a new home!! I’d really like for it to work out…. then I could go visit & play!

The 4th of July was OK. I’m a little scared of loud noised, so I got to stay inside while mom was visiting with the neighbors. The bad thing was that I had to stay in my crate…. I also have a touch of separation anxiety and have the potential to chew stuff up. So thus, I get to stay in my crate if I’m left unsupervised. Mom is hopeful that I’ll out grow this problem. She’s been working with me by leaving for a short amount of time, coming back, telling me what a good boy I am and then giving me a treat. The plan is to leave for longer periods of time & eventually get me over my issues.

Am I the only smart pup in the bunch?
July 9th 2008 11:36 am

Am I the only smart pup in my bunch? It’s like 90 something degrees outside, I have a nice, cool swimming pool. Why won’t anyone join me in it? Well, Sasha sort of does, she’ll dip her feet in, but that’s all she does! That’s not what I’m talking about… I’d like to have a swimming buddy. Hey guys! Whatcha think? Wanna give swimming a try? Trust me – it feels great on a hot day!!!

Patton's Pool

Gloomy…
July 10th 2008 4:46 pm

The weather has been gloomy today and yesterday evening too. Yesterday afternoon wasn’t any fun. The clouds started doing that rumbly thing & my neighbor came up and let us pups inside. Since I’ve been a bad puppy when left unsupervised (chewed up the door trim) I had to spend time in my crate until mom came home. 😦

Today it has been raining off & on. Which means I haven’t been able to enjoy my pool. Which means the water in my pool will be looking yucky. Which means fresh water in my pool. Yipppiee!! I love it when mom puts fresh water in my pool. I bite at the water hose and stick my snout under the water, sort of like a scuba diver!!

It looks promising..
July 16th 2008 10:24 am

Well Friday is the day. The day that Sasha might get her furever home! My human aunt is supposed to stop by mom’s work & pick Sasha up. They are going to try a long weekend visit and if everything goes good, then it’s final! The best part of is I’ll be able to visit her for play dates if everything goes good. Keep your paws crossed!!

Sooo Lonely…
July 18th 2008 5:00 pm

So lonely (so lonely)
I’m Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely)
I have nobody (I have nobody)
To call my own (to call my own)

I’m so lonely (so lonely)
I’m Mr. Lonely (Mr. Lonely)
I have nobody (I have nobody)
To call my own (to call my own) girrll

*SIGH* Okay pups, I’m lonely…. my best buddy in the whole world left me today. It looks like she found her furever home. Unless things go terribly wrong at her new home, I’ll just have to settle for an occasional visit. But I guess that’s ok ‘cause Sasha deserves a good home, one where she’ll have lots of attention and get spoiled with treats. But that don’t change the fact that I’m lonely…. *SIGH*

Work Day
July 22nd 2008 5:08 pm

I got to go to work with mom today. It’s been a while since she brought me, so I had to get used to all the strange people again. It’s good for me, even though I’m terrified for a little while. To make it up to me, she took me to the dog park at lunch. Got to splash around in the shallow pond then accidentally fell into the big pond! It wasn’t my fault!! Blame it on the frog I was trying to catch! Anyway, it wasn’t too bad, just spooked me a little. And the water did feel good. The temp at lunchtime was over 90 degrees!!

I just don’t understand
July 26th 2008 10:05 am

I just don’t understand what Annie’s problem is. I wake up at my usual time, ready to play. I hope off the bed, go to my toy box, pick out my favorite toy and bring it back to her. She ignored me! As a matter of fact she sort of growled at me. Said something to the fact that it’s raining outside and the sound of rain on the roof was perfect sleeping weather. That she needed to catch up on her beauty rest… Harumfff…. I think she was just being plain old rude!!

Patton & Annie

Sasha update
July 28th 2008 4:41 pm

Hi Everyone! Wanted to share a message we received from Sasha’s new family:
“Just wanted to let you how Sasha was doing. We had a big night last night. Misty (Sasha’s new fur sister) started eating again and she was actually trying to bounce around and for her try to play. Then this morning I saw them wrestling on the porch. Misty has never wrestled before, even with Kasey (Misty’s sister who went to the Rainbow Bridge last year). So this morning was big. When I looked out on them late night last night Misty was laying right beside of Sasha. So I think things are working out. I just thought I would let you know how she was doing.”

New Friend
June 2nd 2008 4:46 pm

Yea!! Mom’s leaving work a little early today to go pick up Sasha. Seems like she’s gonna live with us for a week or so until we can find her a permanent home. Yippeee!!! Another playmate 4 me! I’ll write some more later.

Sasha’s here!
June 3rd 2008 10:38 am

Sasha arrived last night. Boy did we have lots of fun playing!! All my other pup siblings were fine with the new kid. Now the cat wasn’t so thrilled to see another dog in the house. Evidently Sasha has had a bad run in with a cat in her past. She’s terrified of Pip. Bah! Pip is a big, fat, lazy baby. All meow & no scratch. I’ll have to teach Sasha how to run by him and nip at his rear. He hates it, but there’s nothing he can do about it! Well… off to play, talk later!

Sasha

Tired
June 5th 2008 10:18 am

Boy am I ever tired! It’s been non-stop playing ever since Sasha arrived. Mom has been trying to get us young pups to calm down later in the evening before we have to go to our crates for the night. It drives her crazy to hear both of us puffing like freight trains! Heeheehee! Panting in stereo! BOL!! I know that Annie is a little miffed at me ‘cause I’ve been ignoring her. I’m gonna try to do better & divide my play time or help Annie join in with me & Sasha. The heat around here isn’t helping too much either, gonna be around 90 degrees again today. I’m glad that I have my pool to lay in!!

Temptations & Confessions
June 6th 2008 10:28 am

There are sooo many temptations in this world for a lil’ ol’ pup like me. I’m on good behavior inside (most of the time), but outside is a completely different story. Here’s a partial list of my confessions:
• I’ve destroyed the cover on the riding lawnmower (lots of pieces all over the yard). • Chewed up a couple dog beds (looked like a mini snow storm on the deck). • Ruined 4 out of 5 cushions on the outdoor furniture (my sister Rosie is the guilty party on cushion #5) • Completely destroyed the protective covers on the outdoor furniture. (They were added in hopes that they would protect the new cushions) • Tore a hole in the brand new squeaky beaver toy (also destroyed the squeaker at the same time) • Can’t seem to control myself when it comes to my pool, always seem to jump in it right before mom calls us inside (how am I supposed to know when she’s gonna let us in???)

I think I might try to work on some of these issues….. but it’s doubtful much will change….. unless…. YUCK!! Mom gives everything I like to chew on outside a spray of Tabasco. YUCK!! The Bitter Apple stuff was pretty tasty. I loved that stuff, so my kindergarten teacher suggested Tabasco…. EVIL STUFF!! But I will admit, it has slowed down my chewing on the outdoor furniture covers.

I’ll let you know how things go. Mom is hoping I outgrow the puppy chewing stage soon.

What!!???
June 10th 2008 10:45 am

Mom told Sasha that she was such a good pup. I thought I was the good pup!!! Ok I give Sasha credit when it comes to getting into the crate at night. All mom has to do is tell Sasha it’s time to go to bed and Sasha walks nicely by mom’s side and goes straight into the crate & lays down. I have to admit, I’m a bit more of a challenge…. I’d prefer to sleep on mom’s bed instead of the crate. But then again, I know I’m cute & sooner or later, I’ll be the good pup again. 🙂

In trouble again
June 11th 2008 1:17 pm

I got in trouble again this morning. Dang my mom & her great hearing!! I decided that the tabasco had wore off on the outdoor couch cover, so….. I started chewing & ripping it again. Mom hear a suspicious noise outside this morning and decided to take a peek out the window before going to work. She caught me in the act!! There was no way I could wiggle my way out of this one. Out came the dreaded TABASCO bottle. The covers got a fresh dusting of sauce. Have I ever mentioned how I can’t stand that stuff? All I have to do is see that bottle & I start sticking my tongue out trying to scrap the nasty stuff off. I haven’t even bit into the fresh sauce yet & can already taste it! YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! I guess I’m going to be sleeping in the crate again tonight instead of on mom’s bed. I’m going to have to remember to do destructive behavior AFTER mom goes to work, then I can blame it all on Sasha.

Uh Oh!!
June 13th 2008 7:48 pm

Uh oh!! I got in trouble (sort of) today. Mom was busy giving my big sisters a bath and I was in the way. So mom reached for my collar to escort me to my crate for a few minutes. Guess what??? NO COLLAR! Mom knows that I had it when she went to work this morning. So she finished up with Annie’s bath and went on a search for the collar. She sort of found it on the deck (see photo). The first piece she found was the part that had my tags attached to it. Upon further search, she found what appears to be the rest of my collar. I swear I had help doing that damage!! There is no way that I could have gotten the collar off myself, so I must have had help. Hellloooo??? Could the guilty party please step forward? I could use a little break in the getting in trouble category. At least mom isn’t really mad at me, just mad that she had to buy a new collar tonight when my old was looked just like new when she left this morning. If only I could talk and explain what happened. I’m sure she would understand that I’m not the guilty party this time. (Even if I did help chew up the collar after it was off!!)

Destroyed Collar

Life is good
June 15th 2008 5:55 pm

Yes siree… life is good. Frosty Paws treats are pawsome. I’ve never had anything like that until yesterday evening. I’m guessing mom has forgiven me for the collar incident since I got such a great treat last night. Hey mom…. can we make those into daily treats? PLEEEASE???

I got a Cuz!
June 19th 2008 9:27 am

I got a Cuz! And what a cute devil it is! I really mean devil…. it’s a BAD CUZ & it has little horns. I love chewing on those little horns. One of these days I’m going to manage to remove them all on my own. Then he’ll be a little orange good cuz. I love how he bounces in all different directions when mom throws him for me. Now I just have to figure out how to keep Sasha from stealing him from me. Hmmmm……

Take Your Dog to Work Day
June 20th 2008 3:10 pm

Today is take your dog to work day. Mom debated for a long time this morning if she was going to bring one of us pups to work with her. In the end, she decided no, but she really did want to take me! She even thought about coming home at lunch & picking me up. The major deciding factor in me not getting to go was the fact that the owner’s wife had brought in her dog. I like to bark at that dog. I guess it isn’t good office manners to bark at the owners dog? So I had to stay home with the rest of my fur sibs. Bummer…. I sure would have liked a lunchtime visit to the dog park!!!

What a storm!
June 23rd 2008 12:39 pm

We had an awesome storm yesterday evening! Or at least Sasha & I thought it was awesome. We conned mom into letting us out right before it got bad, then we didn’t want to come back in. We stood on the deck (it’s a covered deck) and let the wind & rain blow in our faces. Lots of different smells on that wind. I even think I smelled the black bear that has been seen wandering around our neighborhood. They say that it’s been living in the woods behind our house. Anyway…. mom wasn’t too pleased with us young pups when we didn’t come inside when she told us to. But at least I got the wind & rain in my face, it was pawsome. What wasn’t so pawsome was the power going out. That was about 1.5 hours of no nice, cool AC.

Tired Pup
June 24th 2008 10:47 am

I am one tired pup. Playing all day long is hard. The easiest way to relax is to take a quick dip in my pool. The other dogs avoid it like the plague. Only Sasha will get in it and that’s only to wet her feet, and then she hops out again. Mom said that I will probably have a little break in the next few days, says that Sasha is going to have a “no puppies” surgery on Thursday and will have to take is easy for a few days. I guess that will be OK. Will give me some time for brotherly bonding with Ty. I think I’ve been neglecting him lately. If you look back at some of my earlier photos, you can see we were best of buds. I feel bad now that I realize that I’ve been leaving him out of my play time. I’ll try to make it up to him later this week. Watch out big brother! Here I come!!

GRRR!!
June 26th 2008 10:00 am

Mom got up super early this morning so she could drop Sasha off for her  spay surgery and still get to work on time. Only one problem…. when she got to the clinic, they didn’t show Sasha on the list!!! OMD!! Mom wasn’t really pleased about this, she’s been waiting weeks for this appointment. She explained the situation to the people, that Sasha is supposed to be placed in a new home next week (paws crossed) and all they could say it that it must not have gotten written down when mom made the appointment about 3 weeks ago. They’re only human after all…GRROWL…. Anyway, mom went ahead and left Sasha there with the hopes that they would still be able to do the surgery. If not, I guess mom will have to figure out where to get the extra money to have the surgery done at our regular vet. Five pups aren’t cheap to feed and don’t even get her started on the vet bills. Hopefully things will work out with the surgery issue, but mom probably won’t recommend this clinic to anyone after this experience.

May 2008

Graduated
May 11th 2008 6:09 pm

I graduated from puppy kindergarten yesterday. I’ve learned a lot and still need to practice. Mom want to work on what I learned in kindergarten for a few months, then enroll me in some more classes. Gray Dog has some advanced obedience classes she is interested in for me (she thinks I could make a good therapy dog if I can get past a few issues that I have). And Gray Dog offers some water sports classes. Those sound like my type of classes….. WATER!!

Back to work
May 13th 2008 9:46 am

I went back to work today. The boss is on vacation so mom is figuring it’s a good time to play rotating/visiting pups. Her co-workers just love us, so today is my day to visit. I think I’m going to get to go to the dog park again. That’s a big YEAH! Otherwise, I would just prefer to spend my day out in the yard, chasing squirrels.

UPDATE 3:25pm — Yup it was a dog park day. Ran into some old friends and made a few new ones. Took a little dip in the big pond, played some chase…. overall it was a grand time!

UPDATE II — Just got back to work and found out that a co-worker brought her dog in after lunch. A new buddy to play with!! YAHOO!! Her name is Charleah and she’s a real cute little Aussie mix.

I got a pool!!
May 19th 2008 11:18 am

I got a pool, my very own pool!!! Yip Yip Yippie! I love the water and now I don’t have to wait until I go to the dog park to play!! And I know that this is MY POOL ‘cause all my sisters and brother hate the water. I’m sooo very excited. Mom brought it home for me on Saturday and finally got around to putting water in it this morning. It didn’t take me too long to figure out what the pool was for. I hopped in and started splashing immediately. Then….. I figured out that it was super cool to lay down in the water. I tried rolling over, but found out that wasn’t such a good idea — water in my nose & ears. I might try it again sometime, there has got to be a way to do it. Mom put a small pool video on my page for me. (http://www.dogster.com/dogs/744997) It isn’t the best ‘cause her camera had dead batteries in it. Silly mom… doesn’t she realize that she needs charged batteries ready at all times?

Oowwee Zowee
May 28th 2008 12:02 pm

I had an owee zowee toenail. Note: I said “had”. Seems like I played a little too hard over the holiday weekend and ended up ripping part of my toenail off. Actually it was more than half of a toenail and it didn’t come all the way off. But I didn’t let a little pain stand in my way…. I kept right on playing & playing hard too! Anyway, the more mom looked at that toe, the more she was convinced that it really had to be hurting me. (and it did a little, but licking it made it feel better) So off to the vet we went this morning. BTW – I’m up to 51.5 pound now, officially a “large” dog!! Turns out the doc had to sedate me so they could fix my toe and mom had to pick me up an hour later. I wasn’t very pleased to be left alone at the vet’s office. So when my drugs were wearing off, I hide from the vet techs. Mom was wondering what was taking them so long to bring me up… Heeeheeeheee! They didn’t know how sneaky I can be!! But anyway, my toe feels much better now, even if I’m still a tad drowsy.

I’m hoping that I can go to the dog park today. That would make a day at mom’s work much better. At least today there is another dog here at work. Her name is Maggie & she belongs to the company’s owner. She’s an older girl & pretty cool, I really like her. She surprised everyone by playing a little with me. Maggie doesn’t usually play anymore.

Big Day on the Lake
May 30th 2008 9:09 am

Yesterday was my big lake debut! Man did I enjoy it!! The lake is just like a dog park only bigger & better. So much water and lots of stuff to smell. Plus they had rides!! A regular doggie amusement park! I even made a new friend. I also had my very first boat ride. That was sooo cool!! We went out to an island so I could roam around without being on a leash and we took my new pup friend along too. She loved the boat ride too! I hope she finds a home soon. See my friend is a petite little husky mix with really pretty bi-color eyes (one dark brown and one icy blue) and it appears that someone has just dumped her out at the lake. My mom decide she looked like a “Sasha”, that what she decided to call the pup. Mom guesses that Sasha is in the 6 month to a year range. Poor Sasha was hungry so I shared some of my dog biscuits and hog dogs with her. Mom’s friend (Kenyon’s mom) talked to some of her lake neighbors and convinced them to keep an eye on Sasha and feed her some. I’m hoping that KM can talk her husband into adopting Sasha. She’s such a sweet pup! Mom even said if she didn’t already have 4 dogs, she would consider bringing Sasha home with us. That would send big sis Abby right over the edge. She still isn’t thrilled about me being around, imagine her dismay if mom brought in another dog!!! BOL!!

Maybe???
May 31st 2008 5:06 pm

Mom visited her parents today and my human aunt was there too. Mom was telling her sister about the little lake dog (my buddy “Sasha”). Keep your paws crossed!!! Sasha might just have a home if she’s still around in a couple weeks. My aunt is interested in Sasha, but she has to go out of town for a week or so. She works for a local police department and works at the regional K9 training trial events. One of these events will be this upcoming week, so my aunt won’t be able to take a look at Sasha. I think Sasha would be pawsitively pawfect for my human aunt. See, she lost her oldest dog to cancer close to a year ago. In the mean time, her youngest dog has been all alone. All of us here thinks that it would be an ideal situation for everyone. So everyone – please keep your paws crossed that this works out!!!

Hello from Patton

This is a “diary” that our dog Patton has been “writing” since he was a puppy. This goes back to the beginning and will hopefully be caught up to now soon! He has taken a quote from General George S. Patton as the title of his diary.

“Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way.” – General George S. Patton

Hello!
May 6th 2008 9:55 am

Ok, welcome to my new diary. Don’t expect too many entries on a regular basis, I’m way to busy to slow down that much! First let me explain my overall diary title. It’s a quote from General George S. Patton, Jr. I was sort of named after him (mom got on an American History kick when she was naming foster puppies — General Lee, General Patton & Rosie the Riveter). So I figured the least I could do was use one of his quotes as a title for my diary title. BTW – I’ve dropped the title General from my name, it was way too stuffy.

Dog Park
May 6th 2008 10:04 am

Yesterday I went to work with Mom (I’m there again today too). After getting lots of attention and eating some treats, it was time for Mom to go to lunch. She went through the drive thru & got herself a quick burger. (I got to share a few little bites!) Then she took me to Petsafe Village’s Dog Park. I’d never been to a dog park before. Turns out yesterday was a good day for a first trip. It was empty except for me & Mom. That gave me a chance to explore without getting nervous & overwhelmed with other dogs. Lots of stuff to sniff!!! And there was a pond, actually two ponds and a little creek! The big pond was a little more than I wanted to tackle, but the smaller pond at the top was just perfect for me! It’s more like a wading pool than a swimming one. Mom showed it to me and I sniffed a little, then she got me to step down on the rocks along the edge of the pond. That was all it took. In I jumped!! Boy was it so much fun!! Splash Splash Splash! Bite Bite Bite at the splashes I made! I had sooo much FUN!! Mom wishes she had her camera with her. Those would have been some pawsome pics. I think she’s going to take me back over to the park today too! I hope so!! I think I’m going to be a water dog unlike my brother Ty. He’s a golden retriever who hates the water. I think water is so much fun, I even enjoy taking a bath!

Dog Park Again!!!
May 6th 2008 4:23 pm

YEEESSS!! I got to go to the dog park again today! It almost makes up for me having to leave my sibs at home. I played in the little pond again. This time there was other dogs at the park. At first I was a little scared, but before long I was playing with them! I made friends with a pit bull, a doberman, a golden and a little beagle mix. I had so much fun that I didn’t want to leave. Mom took pictures this time and she promises that she will help me upload them tonight so ya’ll can see them.

Dog Park – Day 3
May 7th 2008 3:19 pm

Today was my third visit to the dog park. This time I was greeted at the gate by a tiny lil’ beagle, a bouncy terrier and a fairly calm lab. After a few minutes of being shy, I started to join in with their play. My favorite wading pond didn’t have any water in it, and neither did the little creek. Sighhh. I guess they were working on the pumps or something…. So I had to take a little dip in the big pond. It has much stinkier water in it. The other dogs joined me too and their parents were saying thank goodness they remembered to bring a towel. We were FILTHY! And it was wonderful. Mom’s boss is supposed to be back at work tomorrow, so I guess I’ll get to stay home with the rest of my gang.
